Grapes: 55% Pinot Noir, 45% Chardonnay
The flagship wine from this fabulous, family-owned house, the 'Grande Sendrée' Cuvée takes its name from a parcel of land covered by cinders after the fire which ravaged the town of Urville in 1836. A reproduction of an 18th century bottle found in the Urville cellars is used, and the Grande Sendrée undergoes remuage entirely by hand.
The Grande Sendrée 2010 is produced from the first press and the juice is vinified by gravity. Part of the wine (35%) is aged in casks. In keeping with the house’s style, this champagne contains a low dosage (5.5 g/litre). Aged in bottle for 7 years, the wine opens on the nose with a beautiful complexity and a rich aromatic bouquet with velvety notes of honey, acacia, beeswax and almond paste. The palate reveals subtle aromas of candied red fruit and hawthorn, melting into a delicate, mineral finish.
