Grapes: Mourvèdre (~ 75%) with Grenache and Cinsault and a smaller proportion of Carignan and Syrah.
For us this is THE red wine of Southern France. Delicious, rare and from a truly mythical estate. Clusters are hand-selected in the vineyard and in the cellar; de-stemmed, crushed and put into concrete vats for 3 to 4 week to ferment thanks to indigenous yeasts, before ageing in large oak casks for 18 months minimum before bottling. The 2018 is remarkably fresh and approachable for a region known for brawn. Perfectly balanced, delicious with a slight chill; wonderfully perfumed of sandalwood and spring blossoms. Drinks well now, but boy will this reward some cellaring. A perfect gift...!
