Grapes: 50% Pinot Noir, 40% Chardonnay, 10% Pinot Meunier
A true ‘grower’ Champagne, Chartogne-Taillet is a family run house that is seen as one of the hottest in the Champagne region. A tiny estate, it is situated on a First World War battlefield, making ploughing risky still today. Wines are fermented separately by grape variety and terroir, with increasing use of oak. On the nose the wine is fresh, mineral with citrus and dried fruit. Complex yet precise. The palate is complex with a hint of salinity on the finish. Citrus fruits mingle with apple and a mineral depth. Great balance a harmonious complexity.
